The Australian Breast Centre (ABC)is a dedicated breast clinic that is caring, convenient and a one-stop service for the investigation of breast symptoms in women.

It is run by our Specialist Breast Radiologist Dr Sophia Zedelis who leads a specialised team of radiographers and sonographers. Our team cares for women with a diverse range of breast problems including lumps, swelling, pain, nipple discharge and the assessment of women with breast implants.

What to expect when attending the ABC:

 

You will be greeted by one of our friendly reception staff members and given a clinical history form to fill it. 

Most women will then be taken through by one of our breast trained radiographers and have their 3D mammogram performed using our state of the art mammography machine.

Dr Zadelis will then review the clinical history form and the mammogram then she will have a one on one consultation with you.

​

Following this consultation sometimes  additional specialised mammograph images will be taken if not you will be taking through by one of our breast trained sonographers and an ultrasound examination will be performed. Dr Zadelis will then review the ultrasound and if there are any areas that require more investigation such as a biopsy or cyst draining this will then be undertaken on the same day.

Our Collaborative Approach

Our clinical team, in consultation with you referring doctor, will decide appropriate testing for your specific situation and symptoms. You will have a clinical review, breast imaging and sometimes a needle biopsy to have an accurate diagnosis.

You will be able to discuss any concerns with the Breast Physician at the time of your consultation.

​

A referral from your doctor to the Australian Breast Centre is required, so that continuity of your care is maintained and to ensure professional communication.
